Hey everyone, welcome back. Though its taken a few weeks to get everything up and running, OURS is starting to plan our programs for the semester. So far we have some things coming up that we are excited about including a Peace Corp. meeting for city planner being held on the 1st, a trip to Dillman Farm and an upcoming movie night. Check our calender for exact dates and times; we will be updating it throughout the semester. We had a great showing at our first meeting and hope to keep the momentum going as we have a lot we want to accomplish this semester. If you are interested come to one of our programs, stop by the latest meeting, or hit us up in Sibley
WHAT ARE THE POSITIONS?
CRP DIVERSITY WORKSHOP
Sponsored by the CRP Diversity Committee
12:30 pm – 4:30 pm, Saturday, April 5, 2008
One World Room, Anabel Taylor Hall
LUNCH PROVIDED (not pizza!)
Let’s come together as a community to develop an action plan to support diversity in our department. Suggested issues include: social class and race, curriculum, recruitment (of students, faculty and staff) and inclusive admissions processes. Please come with your energy, ideas, and be ready to collaborate for positive change!
NOTE: Please RSVP to Sandra Villatoro, scv6@cornell.edu
Will be held tomorrow (Monday 10 March) in the Dragon. We’ll discuss planning for the Spring Trip, and getting ready for our trip to EcoVillage Ithaca. See you there!
In the February 6-12 edition of the Ithaca Times, there was an article on the recent retirement of Ithaca’s longtime planning director, Thys VanCort. The article is a great primer on the past 35 years of planning history in Ithaca, including the creation of the Commons, a hydroelectric plant proposal for Fall Creek, the development of Southwest Ithaca and new construction near the Commons and in Collegetown. It’s a great read if you are a student wanting to learn more about the hot-button planning issues in Ithaca. Click here for the Ithaca Times article on Thys VanCort (21 MB).
Be sure to come to the AAP Scavenger Hunt, tomorrow at 4:30pm in Hartell Gallery. (If you have one, be sure to bring your mentor or mentee – you’ll be on a team together!) Members of the winning team win $25 gift certificates to the Cornell Store – so remember, you can’t win if you don’t play. See you there!
Sorry for the delay in updating things here, but the minutes are here. They form an agenda of sorts for OURS for this spring semester. Want to get in on the action? Just show up for our next event or meeting; stay tuned for more details.
